Chromatic Properties ofThermochromatic Ink

Dynamic pigments in combination with static pigments can be used toachieve changeable prints. For example a large billboard commercial witha message that changes over time. One type of dynamic pigments are thethermochromatic pigments, which are used in these experiments. Theyare characterized by their ability to undergo reversible colour changeswith temperature. When heated to a specifi c activation temperature, thepigments change from a coloured to a transparent state. The experimentsdescribed in this paper presents some preliminary results from an investigationof the chromatic properties and color changing characteristics ofthermochromatic inks alone, and in their combination with static inks.
