This paper studied the removal of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) inslightly polluted wastewater through laboratory Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) soilcolumn experiment, based on the characteristics of slightly polluted drinking water atpresent. The experiment results showed that, under different wet/land cycles, the soilcolumns with the less wetting/drying ratio had better removal effect on slightly pollutedwastewater by organic substance. The purified process happened mainly at the uppersoil, and in the range of about 50cm of the top soil layer; Changes of COD removaldue to the influent water quality were not great, which suggested that SAT systemshad the ability to resist burdens; Changes of COD removal due to soil types (loam andsand) were also not obvious. In order to keep a certain hydraulic loading rate, thesandy soil site was selected as the site of SAT.
