This paper studied the removal of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) in slightly polluted wastewater through laboratory Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) soil column experiment, based on the characteristics of slightly polluted drinking water at present. The experiment results showed that, under different wet/land cycles, the soil columns with the less wetting/drying ratio had better removal effect on slightly polluted wastewater by organic substance. The purified process happened mainly at the upper soil, and in the range of about 50cm of the top soil layer; Changes of COD removal due to the influent water quality were not great, which suggested that SAT systems had the ability to resist burdens; Changes of COD removal due to soil types (loam and sand) were also not obvious. In order to keep a certain hydraulic loading rate, the sandy soil site was selected as the site of SAT.
