THE INFLUENCE OF CHINESE AMERICAN CULTURAL VALUES ONWORKPLACE COMMUNICATION, INNOVATION, AND TEAMWORK

We investigate the validity of three theories (convergence, divergence, and crossvergence) usingthree work values (innovation, teamwork, and communication) among managers in three culturalgroups (Chinese, Americans, and Chinese Americans). We derive eight propositions concerningChinese American culture, based on a combination of Hofstede's original dimensions and theChinese Value Survey. This research project is currently at the formulation phase; empiricaltesting is intended to provide the subject of reports at subsequent DSI conferences.
