Data collected from eighty-seven 5-person teams included measures for cohesion, the perceivedusefulness of the communication media selected, frequency of communication, performanceoutcomes, personality trait of agreeableness, and general demographics.Results suggest that media type, the frequency of communication, and individual agreeablenessimpact on the cohesion of a group and ultimately the end performance of the group.Organizations eager to utilize IT to enhance communication within groups may find a loss ingroup/team cohesion and performance.
