This paper provides an overview of the Parlay/Open Service Access (OSA) initiatives concerning the specification of a set of open standardized Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Furthermore, the paper presents an implementation architecture for the Parlay/OSA gateway. The paper then generates Markov reliability models, and solves the models and generates downtime predictions for this architecture. Finally, we conclude with declaration of limitation of this paper on analysis of the Parlay/OSA gateway. In a cluster environment, this paper defines the down states as follows. All the states that more than one-half of the machines failure within a cluster environment are regarded as down states. If using central database system, we also regard the machine which run database system failure as down state.
