In the electrostatic discharge electromagnetic effect experiment, it is found that different ESD simulators may yield inconsistent sensitivity test result for some EUT, though they both meet IEC61000-4-2 standard, Aimed at this phenomena, we found the difference was caused by different lead number of current. We suggest IEC standard should be modified. In the mean time, via research on ESD electromagnetic model, a new dipole model has been presented. These research results have been applied in practice.
