HOW STAKEHOLDERS IMPACT SUPPLY MANAGEMENT:A lesson from Universities

Recent experiences of universities in dealing with groups concerned about the business practices of suppliers provide a cautionary example for organizations in dealing with suppliers, and a rich research opportunity in determining the effect of stakeholders in supply management systems. The cases that were investigated in this study have generalizability that reaches far beyond the university setting. The cases involve supply chain issues in manufacturing and supply chain management and include social responsibility issues. The lessons from the cases provide beneficial insight into the potential effects of stakeholder power.
