摘要

The snake formulation has had a big impact in medical and aerial automatic image processing solving with several approaches the problems that arise in these areas. Sheet-metal parts produced in stamping processes due to its complex 3D shapes and optical properties defy the present inspection systems and few image processing techniques have shown the degree of robustness required to this area of application. This well-proven technique is applied to an early stage of an automatic sheet-metal inspection system in an attempt to improve the general performance of the system in the defect detection task.
