In order to evaluate the removal of Polychlorinated Dibenzo-p-dioxins/Dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) in an Off-gas TreatmentSystem (OGTS) of a pilot Vitrification Plant (VP), the levels/concentrations of PCDD/Fs in off-gas was sampled at variouspositions of the VP during the vitrification of Simulated Dry Active Waste (SDAW) containing 19.1% PVC. Up to 99.98% of93.769ng I-TEQ/Nm3 of PCDD/Fs measured at the outlet of the Pipe Cooler downstream of the Cold Crucible Melter (CCM) wasremoved by passing through the OGTS. The Destruction and Removal Efficiencies (DREs) of PCDD/Fs at the four equipmentstages of the OGTS I.e. the High Temperature Filter, Post Combustion Chamber, Jet & Packed Scrubber, and Selective CatalyticReduction Reactor (SCR) were estimated as 90.13%, 95.18%, 87.53%, and 80.65%, respectively. The characteristics ofPCDD/Fs generation in the VP were similar to those in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Incinerators in terms of thePCDFs/PCDDs ratio and the concentration of 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF isomer as the highest among those of other isomers.
