Analytical models are required for analysis and prediction of vibro-acoustic response of satellites in the design phase. Finite Element Models (FEM) are restricted frequency ranges that are too low to be useful for vibro-acoustic response prediction. As an alternative, analytical methods and/or empirical methods are generally desired for the prediction. This paper make a trial of using Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) to predict high frequency vibro-acoustic random vibration level in acoustic environments at equipment mounting points on structural panels of satellite, DRTS (Data Relay Test Satellite), which was launched successfully by H-IIA in 2002. In order to increase the prediction accuracy, this paper discusses approaches of experiments to extract SEA parameters by impact hammer excitations, acoustical excitation in reverberation acoustical chamber. This paper introduces the overall plan of this project, methodology of SEA modeling and analysis, which will be used for the prediction of random vibration response in both concept design stage and environmental experiment. Comparison between the prediction and experiment results is illustrated.
