This paper is focused on a new statement of the complex envelope displacement analysis (CEDA). When a discretized model of a complex structure is considered, the nodal unknowns are assembled into a single vector. The key point consists of handling this vector, i.e. the solution of the structural problem, as a sampled form of a continuous signal depending on a single dummy coordinate. In this way the problem becomes formally equivalent to the original CEDA and the same technique of can be applied to get the complex envelope displacement and related governing equations.
