The majority of people in the process control industry first learned about the new "open" bus technology called Foundation fieldbus in 1996 at the ISA symposium in Chicago. Early adopters recognized the benefits from using this new technology in smart field devices and have now installed it in their plants. The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants to benefit from the experiences of the early adopters and help them be successful in implementing their own Foundation Fieldbus projects.Applying new technologies to an industry is as much about people as it is about technology. Methods for installing and functionally checking instruments will be discussed and interactive checklists will be distributed to attendees. Management of Change (MOC) will also be considered. There will be a demonstration of trouble shooting tips and techniques as well as a list of the most common problems that have been seen in these early projects. This workshop will contain a list of field-tested tips for designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Foundation fieldbus segments.
