Pyroelectric array of sensors for IR laser beam characterisation will be presented and some comparisons among different sensors will be discussed in terms of performances, cost and applications. The authors have worked on the development of arrays based on a PVDF ferroelectric polymer. In the paper they discuss the main sensors requirements relative to this application and comment the results obtained. The paper also reports the European perspectives for the industrial development of of uncooled IR sensors which have a broad range of applications.
