Combined power generation systems of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and gas turbine(GT) cycles were evaluated with various configurations of the GT cycle. The systemcomparison and assessment were performed, using a process simulation tool, ASPENPlus. Hydrogen gas, assuming to be supplied by an advanced coal gasification process,was considered as the fuel in the evaluation. The SOFC-GTCC (gas turbine combinedcycle) shows the best performance according to the highest thermal efficiency, while theSOFC-STIG (steam injected gas turbine) without air preheating (APH) gives the lowestvalue of efficiency. At a relatively high turbine inlet temperature, the SOFC-HAT (humidair turbine) and SOFC-STIG with APH tend to be competitive systems with theconsiderably simpler system configurations in terms of eliminating a steam cycle,compared to the SOFC-GTCC.
