In order to ensure the operating security of pressure containers, the welded joint angularity and stagger joint must be checked and therefore. An instrument was developed with capacitive displacement sensors. The instrument includes two types of structure to measure various kinds of pressure containers. Error analysis and experimental calibration, showed that the accuracy of the instrument can meet the checking requirements prescribed by the GB150-1998 standard. This instrument has advantages over other measuring devices in the measuring accuracy, digital display and computer interface.
