The Compliance Assurance Monitoring (CAM) rule (40 CFR Part 64) and recent regulatoryreviews are focusing on emission compliance monitoring and reporting for gas turbines. Anew emission control technology for gas turbines commercially available is catalyticcombustion. This combustion technology has unique characteristics that make ParametricEmissions Monitoring Systems (PEMS) a very effective, reliable, accurate and affordablemethod of demonstrating emission compliance.This paper reviews the regulatory requirements and how a PEMS would meet theserequirements. It reviews the PEMS technology and discusses the reasons why PEMS isworth special consideration for gas turbine application using catalytic combustion. Thecharacteristics of the PEMS system and its associated data acquisition and handling system(DAHS) for a XononTM catalytic combust system are also discussed.
