Electrochemical Investigation of Redox Behaviors of a Serials of Novel Co (Ⅲ) Mustard Complexes

Co(Ⅲ) mustard complexes would be potential hypoxic-selective antitumor agents (HSAs), since one electron reduction to the Co(Ⅱ) complexes in by reductases hypoxic regions in solid tumors greatly labilizes the Co-N bonds, causing the release of activated aliphatic mustards which can acts as diffusible cytotoxins. In this paper values of E_1/2 of one series of Co(Ⅲ) complexes of N,N'-bis-(2-chloroethyl)amine (BCA) have been measured, and their electrochemical behaviors investigated. Studies demonstrate that one electron reduction to the Co(Ⅱ) complexes may cause the release of axial ligand, BCA.
