This research studies the real time work schedule adjustment (RTWSA) problem, defined as a modification of a work schedule in real time to cope with unexpected demand and labor supply disruption. This research structures the RTWSA problem to tractable math programming problems and develops appropriate decision support methods. Experienced managers' decisions are collected using a set of test problems and compared with the decision support method. Experienced managers were able to improve profitability significantly, but the computerized solution methods could further improve profitability over what managers achieved.
