Many optimization techniques have been proposed to reduce the length of protocol conformance test sequences. It has been shown that a certain class of techniques that we call homogeneous methods generally possesses better fault capturing ability than non-homogeneous methods. UIOv is an example of a UIO-based homogeneous method. Currently, UIOs are generated to minimize the length of a UIO for each state. A Minimal Input Set for UIOs (MISU) will potentially help to reduce the length of test sequences without compromising the fault coverage. In this paper, we give an overview of MISU and anaylze the possible reduction in the lengths of test sequences.
