摘要

A transverse impact test for fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite laminates was carried out. The strain response on the back surface of the specimens was recorded by a series of strain gauges, and the damage and damage thresholds of E-glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin matrix composite laminates (GF/EP) were obtained according to stress wave theory and continuum damage mechanics. Two types of laminate, i.e., [0/90]_(2s) and [0/45/90/-45]_s are employed in the test. Results show that the tensile and compressive damage strain thresholds of GF/EP are 0.24% and -0.12%, respectively.
