Characteristics of Neutron Radiography Facilities used by Nray Services

Nray Services Inc. uses a variety of neutron beams for service inspections of customer-owned items, and for technique development. The available collimated thermal neutron fluxes range from about 1 X 10~6 n/cm~2 s to nearly 4 X 10~7 n/cm~2s. Objects as large as 2 m~3 can be examined and exposure times to single-emulsion fine-grained X-ray film range from 20 seconds to 14 minutes. The availability of multiple beams at different facilities provides a redundancy that is very important in ensuring continuity of supply to our customers. The ability to develop techniques without interfering with the production of service radiographs is useful in minimizing disruptions.
