The University of Delaware (UD) is implementing PeopleSoft's Human Resources Module for use on campus. A six-member team from Information Technologies (IT) User Services completed the desktop installations for administrative office staff computers. These installations-as well as subsequent upgrades and updates-required substantial planning, complex coordination efforts, and time-consuming office visits.To save staff resources and eliminate the need for the User Services staff to make recurring office calls, we automated the PeopleSoft installation process using the Open Software Associate's (OSA) netDeploy program and the Internet. Administrative staff currently link to a web site to obtain automated PeopleSoft installation and/or updates.
