The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) have a cooperative agreement wherein Science Advisors (SciAds -NASA volunteer scientists and engineers) work with SciAd Teacher Activity Resources (STARs- CCISD teacher volunteers) to promote science and technology education at CCISD schools. We will describe an innovative, interactive, in-school, space museum that is highly successful in stimulating out-of-the box thinking and developing a keen interest in space among the elementary school students. To our knowledge, the CCISD North Pointe Elementary School Museum of Space, Science, Math and Technology in Houston, Texas is unique. It consists of ever-changing exhibits, interactive activities, hands on experiments, higher level thinking games, and displays. The museum stimulates children and teachers alike. For example, one child learns how to use a computer simulation in the museum and teaches another. Teachers previously uncomfortable with science and technology use the museum and integrate it into their curriculum. The best part is, no one is making them use it. You just cant keep them away! This museum model is easily implemented at any school or grade leve This paper will describe the origin, organizations involved, efforts to-date, how to implement, resources, lessons learned, and future plans.
