The paper presents a comparative study of the operation capabilities of floating cranes, i.e. barge, ship and semisubmersible vesselw tih hanging load. Over a wide range of applications the dynamic behaviour of moored floating cranes can be treated as being linear. Under certain conditions, however, the coupled system of floating structure and swinging load shows different linear and nonlinear phenomena: centre dot in-phase and anti-phase load oscillations mutually coupled to interdependent transverse and angular resonance motions of the crane vessel centre dot subharmonic motiosn fo the vessel due to nonlinear mooring characteristics.
