The microphology, construction and composltion of the hydrides in a titanium aluminide alloy based on Ti_3Al, Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V-0.5Mo, has been studied by X-ray and analytical electron microscope. A (Ti_2AlNb)Hx phase with the bct crystal structure precipitated from the orthorhombic O phase in the hydrogen-charged alloy with 0.371wt%H. The orientation relationship between the hydride and the matrix O phase was determined as [001]_((Ti2AlNb)Hx)//[100]_o, (110)_((Ti2AlNb)Hx)//(001)_o.
