The ever growing requirement of extruders to increase the productivity levels of equipment, together with the need to rationalize the material flow and to minimize areas used stocking the finished product waiting to be heat treated, have all led, in the last few years, to a remarkable increase of requests for aging ovens with semi-continuous cycles. In such ovens, the material to be heat treated-which is loaded continuously or in relatively short time itnervals (so the feeding is practically continuous)-undergoes the artificial aging process as it advances in the oven, passing through the different areas that are kept in constant conditions of temperature and atmosphere, and it is unloaded ontinuously. OMAV has therefore been engaged in upgrading and redesigning existing aging ovens. And now we have designed, manufactured, and installed some aging ovens with semi-continuous cycle, which are described in this article.
