After the advanced train control systems (e.g. ATP, ATC) have been introduced in Chinese railway, it is changing the traditional railway signalling concept and speed control method. How to evaluate the drivers reliability in the advanced technological circumstance becomes more and more importnat, for it is vital to comparing and choosing of speed control method, systme design and operation performance. This paper proposes the concept of "stress density" and its calculation, builds the driver's reliability model based on step-seed control nmethod of step-signalling. At the same time, the application of hte concept and model are discussed briefly in two aspects.
