COORDINATING HUMAN SERVICES AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION THROUGH INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS DEPLOYMENT

摘要

This paper reports on the design and deployment of intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology in the coordination of human services and general public transportation in Southeastern (SE) Massachusetts in the United States through the cooperation of a rural and a small urban regional transit authority with state department of transportation (DOT) and human services agencies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The paper will describe the problems and opportunities of coordination in Massachusetts, describe the human services ITS (HS_ITS) components and report on the progress of the deployment in SE Massachusetts.
