THE ITALIAN APPROACH TO THE STANDARDISATION ON INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS: GENERAL FRAMEWORKS FOR DIFFERENT MODAL TRANSPORTS AND SPECIFIC STANDARDS

The paper has the aim to: a) Outline the reasons and needs for normative work on road transport and different modal transports as well as specific application oriented standards; b) Explain in detail the activity already carried out in Italy and introduce works in progress; c) Make a call for experts for telematic applications in rail, railroad, maritime and, generally, for intermodal transports. Specifically, the presented topics concern: - Published standard UNI CEI 70031 titled Standard Framework for Road Traffic and Transport Telematics (RTTT); - Other similar Framework standards to be applied within Rail, Maritime and Intermodal transport, co-ordinated at national level through a general Architecture; - Specific standard activities developed or ongoing in the field of RTTT, namely: 1. Control and Management Systems of vehicles fleets for Demand Response Transport Services - passenger transport; 2. Control and Management Systems of vehicles fleets for Demand Response Transport Services - freight transport.
