The thermal-hydraulics of a commonly used industrial waster heat bioler were investigated using a three dimensional two-phase computer code. A special verison of WCOBRA/TRAC, which is normally used to priedict the behavior of a nuclear ractor plant during an accident, was developed in order to calculated the flow, void and temperature distributions in a typical horizontal waste heat boiler. Modifications included a revision of the gas porpoerties routines to allow the modeling of a combustion gas as well as the addition of heat transfer correlations to the hear transfer package to improve the modeling of cross flow heat transfer and departure from nucleate bioling in a tube bank.
