In order to reduce the tire/road noise, it is necessary to develop the noise reduction technique taking account of the noise generation mechanisms. Pipe resonance in tread grooves at the contact area of a tire is a major factor of tire/road noise. Noise radiation due to pipe resonance is influenced by the road surface properties. However, there are few reports regarding the influence of the road surface.
