摘要

Binary blends and their membrane of cellulose acetate (CA) and polyvinylbutyral (PVB) have been prepared by solution blending. The compatibility of the blends is studied by viscometry and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). It is found that incompatibility of the blends manifests markedly when the PVB composition (or weight fraction of PVB) in the CA/PVB blends passes over 0.4. On the other hand, compatibility result is obtained for the PVB compsoition less than 0.4 in the CA/PVB blends, especially at about 0.2 of PVB composition. This compatibility is believed to play a key role in good pervaporation behavior of CA/PVB blend membranes.
