摘要

A membrane spaced multicompartment electrolyzer was developed for the ion exchange electrochromatogrpahy of proteins. For the present study, separation of BSA on DEAE Sepharose Fast Flow was studied to elucidate the effects of electric field strength on the adsorption and desorption kinetics and the mass transfer characteristics. The electroosmotic flux inside the packed bed of DETE-Sepharose was determined and its contribution to the enhancement of mass transfer during the chromatography was identified.
