A HUNDRED-DAY SPRINT: GOING LIVE WITH SAP 4.0B ON S/390 AND NT. LESSONS LEARNED AND WISDOM GAINED

This paper chronicles Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota's successful implementation of SAP 4.0B using S/390, DB2 and Windows NT. After BCBSMN decided on a platform many important tasks had to be quickly completed; both S/390 and DB2 had to be upgraded and an NT infrastructure had to be created. Four SAP environments had to be installed and made ready to support a very aggressive 'go live' date. This paper will explain the reasoning behind the platform selection and recount the joys and sorrows encountered implementing a strategic product in a very short time.
