Petrol vapour explosion - a reconstruction

An explosion and fire in a dwelling house proved to have been caused by the ignition of petrol vapour. It became evident that large quantities of petrol had been distributed throughout the house. Characteristic heat damage patterns to the clothing of a suspect could be explained by a low-level heat flash. Experiments were carried out to test whether the ignition of petrol vapour could provide a possible explanation.
