Methandienoe (MAD) can increase the rate of lean meat for pigs. It is important to know whether there is any MAD remainder in the tissues. Gas chromatography / mass spectrometer (GC/MS) has become established as the definitive technique for the analysis of many mixtures due to its high selectivity and excellent sensitivity. The two independent dimensions of information provided by the high resolution separation of capillary gas chromatography and mass specrometry permits rapid deection and identification of most amenable compound with an extremely high degree of confidence. We established a method for determination of the MAD in tissues using GC/MS.
