Java Implementation of an Object-oriented Software Metrics Assessment Tool

Modem software implementation may be carried out using a building block approach instead of the strictly top-down and/or a bottom-up methodology that is often practiced in the software industry. The Java programming language and its environment provides an engineering platform to implement modern software systems in this manner. We have designed and developed an object-oriented software metrics assessment tool in Java using a building block approach. In this paper, we describe the implementation of the tool, discussing design choices made during this implementation, the partitioning of the application domain, and the advantages of a Java-based programming environment.
