Ion Vapor Deposition (I.V.D) of Aluminum is a functional coating developed in the late 1960's by McDonnell Douglas as an environmentally safe alternative to electroplated Cadmium. It was initially deve,oped by McDonnell Douglas for the Aersopace Industry as a functional coating of High Strength Steels, aluminum Alloys and titanium fasteners.
