Nonlinear control has emerged as an area of extensive research activity during the last decade. An important class of problems concerns the study of disturbance inputs for analysis and controller synthesis purposes. This paper describes some aspects of the design of multivariable non-linear internal model control in the case of continuous flow-fermentation process with several types of modelling errors. The controller is based on the inverse of the process model and a non-linear filter. The approach used get rid of the assumption of full state feedback. Simulation results for a continuous stirred tank reactor illustrate the good behaviour of the control strategy.
