Methodology and technology of ASIC verification using a hardware emulator

As ASIC design complexity has increased rapidly, software techniques cannot entirely meet the demand of ASIC functionality verfication. Hardware emulation has been used widely because of its special characteristics. Using a data capture and interface ASIC as an example, we address the principle and metholology for emulation in this paper. Some techniques are discussed in detail. The application results are also analyzed.
