It is important to ensure high-speed bogie fatigue strength and the key technique is the fatigue design for structural detail of welding frame. In the process of the frame manufacture, the welding stress will be created. In this paper, the residual stress has been measured by NDT method that based on the magneto-elastic technique. The residual stress distribution and fatigue test results for two types of simulated box girder made by different welding technologies have been given and then the structural detail has been determined. In order to verify the fatigue design, fatigue test of an actual frame has been done and the relation between residual stress and fatigue cycles has been analyzed.
