International activites for storage of spent fuel from power reactors

The importance of spent fuel storage to the overall topic of spent fuel management is discussed. The international aspects of spent fuel storage and the role and interest of the International Atomic Energy Agency are addressed. Information on current and projected spent fuel inventories is provided. Following a general discussion of storage practices, the specific storage programs, practices and plans of various countries with nuclear power generating capability are described.
