Usda Forest Service Research adn Development Carbon Management Research

摘要

Forest systems provide a wealth of opportunity to help mitigate climate change through biomass production and management and potential new woody cropping systems. Important functions are:(1) increasing biomass above-and below-ground, (2) conserving the essential functionality of our resource and bilogical production systems, (3) providing biomass for energy, adn (4) extending carbon storage in wood produts. Research is needed to develop environmentally acceptable and economical management activities to create and enhance bio-storage capacity in forest systems, bomass and soils. The USDA Forest Service carbon management research program is producing techniques to help manage emissions, increase carbon sequestration capacity, and meet the nation's need for forcest benefits.
