New evaporator generation in flat tube construction

The flat-tube evaporator, representing a new generation of 55 mm deep evaporators, is a double-row heat exchanger with an upper and lower tank. The refrigerant is injected into the row of tubes on the air outlet side where its flow path is diverted several times. Then it flows through to the second row of tubes on the air inlet side and makes its way back to the connection tubes.Despite its shallow structural depth, the 55 mm flat-tube evaporator produces the same performance as the 65 mm series evaporator. This is because the pressure loss in the tubes and tanks on the refrigerant side is very low and because the surface area on the inside of the tubes has been increased by the use of weps. This type of refrigerant flow management produces a very even temperature profile at the air outlet. A further advantage of this method of refrigerant ducting is that the cross-counterflow has beneficial thermodynamic properties which enhance the evaporator's performance.
