A generic hybrid video encoder and decoder system is presented, in which the block matching algorithm (BMA) and the discrete cosine transform (DCT) are used. Since the BMA and the DCT require high computational complexity, it is difficult to compute them in real-time. We implement a generic hybrid video encoder and decoder system on the TMS320C80 DSP board, in which a parallel processing technique and the packet transfer (PT) scheme are employed.
