New approach to smoothing of diamond - Tribochemical polishing of diamond with some soft powders

For long years (more than 500?) diamond for jewelry or latest diamond tool for diamond turning have bene polished with the combination of cast iron tool (so called lap or scaife) and diamond powders. That is one of the state of the art and skill-oriented process. However it is also true that the process have not been investigated fro mthe scientific point of view. We tried to investigate the effect of the cast iron scaife and proposed that hardened steel also can be used as the scaife.
