Waste minimization is of increasing importance in Taiwan especially in the wastemangement program for environmental, regulatory, and economic resons. In order to reduce waste generation in the coating manufacturing process at the Berlin Compant, Kaohsium, high efficient process equipments (and/or modifying existing equipments or processes) such as high efficiency dispersion and volatille orgajic compounds (VOCs) emission control systems were established. In additions, a solvent recvery system (K200/CIEMME) was used to reduce effectively the number of rejected or off-specif8ication products, thereby reducing the amount of material which has to be disposed of. This coating manufacturing process may save at least USS 70,000 per year by using the recycled solvents.
