摘要

The dry sliding behaviour of the compound layer obtained by gas nitriding on a typical nitriding steel was studied by means of specific wear tests, in order to evaluate the effect of the constitution of the layer. The results of the wear tests were interpreted on the basis of the analysis of the wear mechanisms, based on the characterization of the wear debris and of the worn specimens, as well as on the evolution of the friction coefficient. The constitution of the compound layer influences the running-in only, and the wear load plays an important role, which is determined by the effect of the porosity associated with the #epsilon# -nitride on the mechanical properties of the compound layer.
