The debonding of a rigid and conducting elliptic inhomogeneity in piezoelectric materials under antiplane shear and inplane electric loading is studied using the complex variable method. The principles of conformal transformation and series expansion were employed to determine the complex potentials in the piezoelectric matrix. The resulting closed form expressions were then used to obtain the energy release rate involving the debonding at the inhomogeneity-matrix interface.
